New outfits released on New Look Sindy this year....

New Look 'Sidepart' Sindy was issued in four New outfits in 1969. There were 'Evening Stroll'...'Sunshine Girl'...'Winter Warm' ...and 'Fashion Girl'.. Fashion Girl was the same name as the previous years outfit, and indeed, it was the same pattern, but in a new, fresh colourway.

Here's 'Fashion Girl' shown with the charm bracelet also given away with New Look Sindy. Sindy is wearing white kitten heels, which are incorrect, the correct shoes for this outfit are green sneakers.

'Winter Warm' used Sindy's anorak from 'Winter Holiday', teamed up with a pair of white bell bottom jeans with blue stitch detail, and a pair of black sneakers. This particular Made In England anorak has the slightly rarer sheeps wool fur trim rather than the usual coney fur.

'Evening Stroll' teamed up some Sindy favourites as well, Sindy's 'Reefer Jacket' , white bell bottom jeans with blue stitch detail, white sneakers, and Sindy's 'Turtle Neck Sweater' in green.

'Sunshine Girl' was a gorgeous 'Pyjama style' beach/Summer outfit consisting on a sleeveless top with short 'tie' detail at the neck, and bell bottom pants, both in crisp, cool white cotton patterened in stylised pink flower buds.

Just a few new additions this year...

A 'quite' year as far as fashions and accessories went, most items featured in the style book were from previous years, but the few new additions to Sindy's wardrobe and scensetters couldn't fail to impress the young buyers.

'Flower Frillies' was a bright and colourful addition to Sindy's underwear collection, in the latest 'drip dry' nylon  and grooviest print with white lace and daisy detail. I believe that this was the very first Sindy outfit to use velcro (to fasten the bra at the back), a very new concept at the time. The set consisted of matching bra, panties and half slip, and a pair of red kitten heeled shoes.

'Trendsetter' was just that ! A phsycadelic print summer mini dress with 'pert polo neck' and baby blue belt (this belt is a homemade reproduction). Pedigree had ceratinly grabbed the bull by the horns once New Look Sindy was released as far as fashions and materials were concearned, year after year fabulous designs and way out patterns were introduced, this pattern is just so lively with it's bold swirls of amost luminous green, white, baby pink and two gorgeous shades of blue.

More undies, and this time a set especially for winter, aptly named 'Winter Undies', a snuggly warm set in rich red thick stretch nylon to keep the cold at bay, trimmed with lashings of snow white lace and ribbons, Sindy embrased the fashion for 'Victorian' style clothing that was gradually coming into fashion at the begining of the 70's,in this cute undie set.Winter Undies was also issued in white and also in Navy blue.

'Bedtime Beauty' has to be one of Sindy's cutest and cheekiest bedtime outfits. Often shown worn the wrong way round, even in one of the style books ! Made in pink nylon dotted with either mauve or inky blue large polka dots and edged in white lace the short baby doll/shirt style sleevless top matched the panties worn underneath. White daisy strap sandals were worn with this. There was a later version of this outfit in pink.. no dots, with pink sandals.

Sindy may have only been issued with a few new items this year, but boy did Pedigree spoil us with her new scensetters.  Hot on the heels of Sindys bath with real working tap came Sindy's Sink Unit, with real working tap ! This was styled in the ultra fashionable blue and yellow with 'drawer line' styling. The top was very life like simulated stainless steel (plastic) with mono tap and two little blue 'handles', also a real chain with blue plug to plug in the plug hole, which really drained the washing up water away after the dishes had been done and stacked to dry in the blue dish draining rack. There was a set of cutlery and crockery for two, white crockery and plain cutlery. The tap worked by filling the sink with water, letting it then drain into the pump underneath in the sealed cupboard, and then pressing down on the towel rail at the side  to pump the water though the tap, the sink had one working drawer and a nice big cupboard with a shelf  in for all Sindy's cleaning and washing products. This item is hard to find in mint condition as it's play value was so imense that the constant use of water and soap on the 'stainless steel' effect gradually 'eroded' it away.

Bang up to date and the epitomy of every 60's kitchen across the Uk was Sindy's Folding leaf table and chairs. A kitchen just wasn't 'with it' without a formica covered drop leaf table and matching chairs. Now Sindy's friends could come round for a coffee, a fish and chip supper, or maybe one of the new Vesta Curries, all served up with lashings of the latest gossip. This set is mint with box, also mint. The usual set of cutlery and crockery was provided, and a 'silver' coffee pot, milk jug and Sugar bowl. It's intersting to note that Sindy's sets were provided with coffee pots rather than Tea pots, maybe showing the popularity of the coffee culture of the 60's, which has only over the past few years returned to the UK.A cute addition to the usual set of accessories were plate covers to keep food warm, a nice touch, and with the silver wear certainly 'poshed' up the drop leaf table by a few notches !
