Well, with legs like Sindy's, why not ! So here's to Sindy's skirt outfits......

One of my favourite bright and cheerful outfits is 1985's 'Carnival Girl', so perfectly named. Here's my Titian Sindy doing it full justice as she dances to the latin carnival beats. She wears a bright red nylon top with elasticated neckline worn off shoulder, and short sleeves with elasticated 'cuffs', a yellow PVC belt cinches in the waist, and flowing from this is a crisp gathered white skirt to calf length covered in bright stylised flowers of navy blue, sunshine yellow and bright red, with this outfit Sindy wears yellow one strap, wedge sandals, and a matching head band to hold her hair out of the way while she dances, with this outfit Sindy will be getting as much attention as the brightly coloured carnival floats.

Oh ! Sindy is really twisting the night away in this FAB retro 50's creation entitled 'Jumping Jive', and boy, can she jive ! Released in 1984, Sindy wears a stretch nylon top with large turtle neck style 'collar' and three quarter sleeves, in a rich cornflower blue. Sindy's skirt is a bright and colourful 'harlequin' print of  jade green, 'Sindy' pink, red, and cornflower blue diamonds, with two layers of pink net 'petticoat' underneath to flare the gathered skirt out, and a tight black braid belt with fancy round gold buckle to cinch in Sindy's tiny waist. On her feet , Sindy wears flat red shoes and white bobby socks in nylon (the ones in the picture are home made as I can't seem to find one of my original socks ! )

1975's 'Lovely Lively' Sindy showed off her 'Lovely Lively legs' in this really pretty skirt outfit. An ultra soft, white fleecy type top with short sleeves, was trimmed with a yellow, white and orange checked cotton at the end of the sleeves, hem and around the neck and a little way down the front, which fastened at the neck with a lovely pearly button. Sindy's skirt allowed her to pose in any postion as it flared out in crisp tiny pleats, in the orange, yellow and white cotton used for the trims of her top. With this outfit Sindy wore a pair of white bow fronted shoes. I love this outfit, it really is just so pretty and so well made, the top is just yummy, and the skirt is one of the prettiest of Sindy's skirts I think.

In 1981 Sindy wore one of her most beautiful blouses, teamed with a skirt in ' Fine and Fancy'. A crisp, fine white cotton bodice was elasticated at the waist, with a pretty red flower detail with green leaves at the centre of the waist. The sleeves were the finest white organza, puffed from the shoulder and elasticated three quarters of the way down the arm, fluting out to the wrist and trimmed in white lace at the ends, which also trimmed the round neck, hem and front of the bodice. The skirt was also in cotton, gypsy style full length with gathered botton complimented the blouse perfectly. I'm unsure as to weather this skirt is the correct one as the only one I've seen in the style book is a different colourway, although the pattern is similar. Pedigree often bought out variations, so this may well be one. Never-the-less..original skirt or not, this outfit looks absolutley stunning on this 80's Sindy, which came to me as part of a lot which I was going to sell on, but once I'd seen her, that was it, how could I let such a beauty go.

Oh boy, this is real knock out stuff ! Sindy's 'Daring Dazzler' from 1985, is sure to impress. A very tight sparkling gold sleevless top and wrap around, spilt skirt with matching frill to the edge is perfect for those salsa nights in Puerto Rico, what more can I say, it's stunning ! This outfit originally came with gold one strap, wedge sandals.

Keeping in that bright summery mood here's Sindy in 1982's 'Summer Suit', here we see two variations of it, both in light cotton with red backround, one is covered in pretty flowers of blue, yellow and white, while the other also has green flowers. The shirt style blouse is close fitting with collar, lapels and short sleeves, this tucks into Sindys below knee, slightly flared skirt with pleat detail at the front and attatched tie belt in matching fabric. Just the thing to wear for a day trip to the islands.

As night falls Gayle is off to the disco wearing her 1976  'Disco Date' outift, a crisp A line red skirt with real patch pockets on the back in jeans style, worn with a colouful nylon jersey T shirt in red, white, green and orange stripes, here comes summer !

One of Sindy's most unusual and quirky dresses was also released in 1976, 'Aquamarine' featured a bold fish design in a scrumptious blue, complete with bubbles! Printed on white cotton jersey T shirt material, full length in style with short sleeves and a scoup round neck, the perfect dress for those cooler summer days or evenings.

When winter sets in  Sindy still looks ultra fashionable in her 1984 'Autumn Stroll' outfit. This is an excellent example of what women were wearing at this time. Sindy is all snug in her perfect replica wool sweater in cream, navy, pastel blue, bottle green and burgundy, over this she wraps a toasty wool tartan shawl and also wears a fully gathered matching skirt in deep burgandy, from under the skirt a pure snow white petticoat billows delicate lace and shows off her trendy brown cowboy boots. Kicking up the leaves in the local park never felt so good.

Sindy was also given a simlar outfit in 1983, 'Pioneer Days' really did hark back to those pioneering days with it's western style influance. Sindy wore a pure white cotton broderie anglais blouse with frilled yoke and puff sleeves ending in leg of mutton cuffs, one of her most beautiful blouses. She wrapped a richly coloured tartan shawl around it, this time in navy blue, red and yellow, with matching fully flared skirt which buttoned up the front with tiny red buttons, under her skirt she wore a petticaot to match her blouse and on her feet she wore her favourite cowboy boots in brown.Very smart for that autumn christening.

Smart Skirt suits...........

In 1974 'Funtime' Sindy was released, and also, this fabulous outfit, 'Wavy Navy'. In thick nylon material in consisted of an 'A' line skirt with front pleat, patterned in a way out, bright and cheerful zig-zag pattern in navy blue, pale blue, white and rich cream. With this Sindy wore a smart blazer style jacket in Navy with patterned detail on the collar and patch pockets, it also had two cute little white buttons. Sindy's hat was also in the zig.zag pattern, and she carried a navy blue shouder bag with white pearl button closure. Very smart, and so very Sindy.

Sindy reveled in luxury fabrics in 1978 in her 'Sporting Life' outfit. Made in a soft creamy 'suede' like cotton, her 'A' line, knee length skirt had two rows or maroon stitch detail either side of the front panel. The jacket was a trendy blousen style with a fur trimmed V neck. Under her jacket Sindy wore a short sleeved bouse in thick stretch nylon, in a fashionable brown and biege tiny check. Knee length brown boots were perfect footwear for a sporting day out with the horses. A really well detailed and up to the minute fashion.

In the 70's, and ,I'm not sure which year(can anyone help ?) Sindy set her sights on 'Paris In The Spring'.This is one of Sindy's most detailed and superbley tailored outfits ever. Made in light white cotton with a sea of navy blue and pillar box red polka dots spinkled all over it. The jacket was in a blouse style with cuffs and no collar or lapels, two patch pockets skimmed the hem at the front. The skirt is the real masterpiece, beautifully tailored in very smart box pleats stitched into place at the edges from the waisband down to the bottom of the hips. The blouse is equally stunning in navy blue organza with puff sleeves and elasticated 'cuffs', a 'tie' at the neck keeps the outfit looking crisp and smart.

In 1979 Sindy joined the 'Country Club' and dressed for the occaision in a smart fine cotton, pleated skirt, brown and white gingham blouse with smart collar detail, donkey brown blazer in a linen mix with large lapels and four white tiny buttons.Sindy accessorised with a jaunty  chocolate brown beret and matching 'tassle' shoes. As you can see, this particular outfit looks especially good on the short haired 'Diana' style Sindy, and what better model to choose from my own collection than 'Lady', I'm sure she'll fit right in down at the country club.

1984 see's Sindy off to a freinds wedding in the annual of that year, and what does she wear ? She's picked out 'Smart Set', a gorgeous white suit in thick cotton with long pleated skirt and bolero style jacket. Under the jacket Sindy wears a royal blue satin blouse with fine navy vertical stripes and a sewn on cravat/tie at the neck.Sindy accessorises with a matching hat edge trimmed in royal blue, the bag is a reproduction I made and the outfit should also come with a belt with a 'gold' buckle.

'Window Shopping' is always fun, and it costs so little !. In 1982 Sindy chose to wear her thick wool, dog tooth check suit with smartly tailored 'soft' edged jacket and long pencil skirt with front and back splits. Under her jacket she wears a sleeveless fine cotton blouse in biege with a frilled high 'collar', and around her shoulders she wraps her chocolate brown fake fur stole, which matches her 'tassle' shoes. This outfit also came with a clutch bag and a belt to go around the waist of the jacket.

From the same year came 'Springtime' perhaps named because of it's fresh green colour ? Another lovely suit, this time in light cotton. The skirt was an 'A' line style with unusual 'pleat' at the front, very nice detailing. The jacket was simply styled and had same colour edge stitching up the front and around the nicley detailed collar and lapels. Sindy wore brown 'Tassle' shoes with this suit and under the jacket a cream blouse with a tie bow at the neck, I haven't got this, so I've used the blouse from another outfit. This outfit also came with a brown cord shoulder bag piped in cream around the edges. 1982 was certainly a year that Sindy became a member of the 'country set' that's for sure. You can almost see Sindy off to the church bazaar or Womens institute meeting in this smart suit.

Dressed to impress...........

I've picked this jaunty little number to kick start Sindy's dress section, it's from 1984, and disapointingly, it has no name, it was part of the 'Autumn collection' that came out later that year, 6 new outfits, all with no names. Never-the-less, it's just goregous. In crisp white cotton with fine royal blue horizontal stripes, royal blue ribbed cuffs on the full length sleeves and a large sailor collar in crisp white cotton trimmed with a royal blue ribbon bow at the front centre.Sindy wears a royal blue Tam 'O' Shanter hat with white trim and fluffy bobble. Sindy looks so cute in this outfit, it's a must for punting on the river on those hot summer days.

I fell in love with this Sindy and her 'Party Time' dress as soon as I first laid eyes on them, this dress is just so of it's time, 1971 was the year, mini's still very much in fashion, along with fabulous large white collar, belt and cuffs, all in stretch satin nylon. And what a wonderful rich shade a red, perfect for those Christmas disco parties. White bow front shoes completed 'Lovely Lively' 'Party Time' Sindy.

Two years later, in 1973, Lovely Lively was issued in a new dress, this time in a nice strong cotton, and what beautiful tailoring this one was, a real labour of love. Another one I saw in a book and just had to have ! A slightly dropped waist bodice in electric pink, covered in bright green, yellow and white daisy type flowers, with the most delicate cotton lace cuffs and collar. The skirt was in box pleats, alternating in white and the same pattern as the bodice, truely sensational. White bow front shoe's completed the outfit.

Skip ahead another two years to 1975 and Lovely Livley was introduced in yet another wonderful dress, this time, the ultra fashionable 'pinafore' dress, entitled 'Ship Ahoy'. In thick cornflower blue cotton with a bright red Mary Quant style daisy flower on the bib, under this Sindy wore a stretch thick nylon sweater with elasticated cuffs and turtle neck. Again, white bow front shoes completed the outfit, a really pretty dress for a really pretty Sindy.

'Springtime' in 1973 captured spring time perfectly ! The fresh bright green of new shoots waiting to burst open was captured in the colouring of this flared mini dress, striped though with trendy bright pink, and sprinkled with the first flowers of spring, pretty daisies in lilac blue and white, the bodice was fitted, with puff three quarter sleeves ending in neat cuffs, the skirt flared out from a bright pink PVC belt with round brass buckle, white bow front shoes completed the look, so bright and fresh, and so fashionable. This outfit was mint in pack.

One of Sindy's most unusual outfits was released in 1979, named 'Society Miss', Sindy wore a thick white cotton 'A' line dress, trimmed with a beautiful navy blue cotton sprinkled with white flowers and stripes though it, at the cuffs on the full length sleeves, a V insert at yoke and a turtle neck collar. Real pockets were sewn descretly into the side seams of the dress. With this dress Sindy wore a fabulous hat creation, based on a 1920's 'cloche' hat and in the same blue material that trimmed her dress, with a white cotton band just above the 'brim'. On her feet Sindy wore white court shoes. The first time I saw this outfit I just had to have one, it's so unusual. This one was bought mint in pack. My beautiful 'Lady' suits this outfit to a T with her short 'Lady Di' hairstyle and high colour face.

Keeping with the 1920's theme, Pedigree gave Sindy another 20's inspired look with this drop waist dress in her 'Autumn collection' in 1984. No name was given to the additions for that autumn, just numbers. This was another really pretty dress in jade green crisp cotton with a white sailor inspired collar. Although a fairly simple outfit, the detail was lovely, two seams ran down the front, and after the drop waist white sewn on 'belt' type detail, turned into a neat box pleat. The dress had short sleeves and was issued with a white crochet shoulder bag and white court shoes, another outfit that suits 'Lady' perfectly and another of my favourites. Note also, how the same Sindy can look so different in various outfits, as 'Lady' does here and in the previous outfit.

The popular 'Lady Di' Sindy, (so named by collectors because she was bought out after Pincess Diana made shorter hair fashionable), was issued as 'Party Girl' in 1983. Her outfit was not really what we would have seen any self respecting party girl to be wearing at that time, although it did lean towards the sailor style, again made fashionable by Princess Diana. Sindy wore a knee length fine cotton dress in navy and white stripes with a gathered hem which would flare out when Sindy danced, reminicent of her first party outfit 'Dream Date'. The dress was topped with a crisp white sailor collar and tied at the front of the collar with a navy satin bow. Sindy wore white slip on mules with her party dress.

In the winter months of 1983 Sindy could look back on those balmy punts along the river by flicking though her photo album, sitting in front of her roaring log fire, all toasty cosy in her 'Bright and Breezy' outfit. This is a lovely detailed dress in soft cream wool, knitted in Arran style with a large cowl style neck. Sindy wears black tights with this and cream court shoes, a simple but really beautiful little ensemble.

From the same year Sindy had another choice for those cold winter days, 'Frosty Pants' was another dress in soft wool, this time in wonderful, bright colours to cheer up the dullest winter day. Horizontal stripes of white, black, cornflower blue, navy blue, yolk yellow and red ,helped Sindy put a spring in her step, worn just over the knee, with long sleeves and a cowl neck she was sure to keep those harsh winds at bay. Under her dress Sindy wore thick red tights and over these she slipped on fashionable white knee high boots.

Sindys 1980 'Coffee Party' dress as a real take on 'Laura Ashley' style, very fashionable at the time. A thick, rich cotton dress in an off white background and covered in the most vibrant coloured stylised flowers, baby pink, fushia pink, golden yellow and cornflower blue, with a smattering of bright geen leaves just for good measure. The dress was cut with a batwing design top with cream ribbed 'V' neck and cuffs on the full length sleeves. The skirt was a slight 'A' line reaching to well below the knees. A very classy and formal dress that would be equally good for a family summer weddng worn with a large brimmed hat.

More stripes, this time on 1981's 'Coffee Morning' . A far cry from Sindy's first Coffee Party dress, instead of a mini dress, she was given a fashionable maxi look in white ribbed stretch nylon with thin rich red stripes running horizontaly across it. The 'V' neck was in red ribbed nylon, as were the cuffs on the full length sleeves, and this was also used at the waist, to cinch it in neatly and give shape to this casual dress. Sindy wore one strap white sandles with it, perfect for those gossipy coffee mornings in Sindy's beautiful home with friends.

Sindy was a 'Modern Miss' in 1984. She wore a mini style dress in an olive green soft cotton jersey. A very fashionable white string vest top was sewn into the top of the dress and tights matched this. Sindy wore white one strap sandals, and around her waist she wore a fawn belt with attatched purse. This is a really pretty  little outfit and one worth looking out for. The perfect outfit for Sindy to hit the disco floor in.

This is a big favourite amongst collectors, 1977's 'Famous' 'Lunch Date' outfit. Sindy turns every head in the high street as she steps out for lunch with friends in this ultra fashionable 70's dress and turban combination. Rich pink stretch thick nylon is used for the turtle neck sweater with cuffs, which also matches Sindy's cool turban and belt with 'gold' double buckle.Over her sweater Sindy wears a cool, crisp cotton shift in white with a deep pink and grey pattern of tiny stylised flowers and leaves. She finishes the outfit off with a pair of deep grey knee length boots, stunning !

Sindy wore 'Sunbeam' in 1973, and what a perfect name for this bright, sunny dress ! In thick pillar box red nylon, the dress had a fitted bodice with short puff sleeves and a wide'A' line skirt to just above the knees. Sunny yellow binding trimmed both sleeves and the bodice in two horizontal stripes, and a delicate net flower in baby blue was worn just below the rounded neck on Sindy's left hand side. A very smart and fashionable dress at the time, and it really looks a million dollars on this brunette Trendy Girl. In the style book the dress is worn with white bow front shoes, but I've seen a mint in pack Sunbeam with the red bow front shoes in it, which I think look much better.

Simple tailoring and creative use of detail were all that were needed to ceate this lovely day dress for Sindy in 1974, entitled 'Wrapover', that's exactly what it did, wrapped over at the front and fastened with one popper near the top.Wrapover was made in heavy weight cotton in a rich tomatoe red, with cute little cap sleeves, very fashionable in the 70's, espaecially on T-shirts. The edges of the dress were finished off in braid with a patterned  triangular design of royal blue, gold, red and white, and Sindy wore an embroidered daisy on her left 'Lapel'. A beautiful 'fitted' dress with a gentle 'A'-line which was so smart for an afternoon in town or  coffee morning with friends.

It's 1974 and Junes off to a 'Summer Party' in her crisp cornflower blue cotton dress, sprinkled with tiny white polka dots. The dress has a bodice that finishes just under th bust and then layers down in hree layers to a  pretty flared hem , the round neck and full length sleeves are finished in a lovey white lace detail, and a small white satin bow sits just above the hem at the front, with this dress June is wearing blue bow front shoes. A really pretty dress that suits Junes beautiful blue eyes.
