Sindy has been given some wonderful ballgowns thoughout the decades. It all started with 'Come Dancing' in 1968.A beautiful flowing full length skirt from a tight strapless bodice, with a royal blue satin wrap, Sindy would have caught every eye in the room. The necklace in this picture is a copy I made, and I added the cream rose buds in Sindy's hair just as extra decoration for that special ball.
Here's is just a selction of Sindy's wonderful creations, which she would wear to balls and premiers. Some rich fabrics were used to add that air of luxury to the gowns, satins, 'gold' thread, frothy lace, 'furs' and sometimes jewelrey....
Scarlet Lady was designed by the Emanuels, designers of Princess Diana's wedding dress. This beautiful creation was introduced in 1985, the last year we were to see Sindy in the face and form we all love so much, so it was quite a 'parting gift' to be given such a special gown. Rich red silk and black velvet were a winning combination, the ruffle off the shoulder dress and floor sweeping black cape just looks absolutley stunning on Sindy.

'Romantica' was just hat, a gorgeous concoction of layers and ruffles in pale lemon cotton, Sindy wore a losange shape wrap with ruffled edge all the way round, when this was removed she revealed her halter neck ruffled bodice with full gathered skirt in two luxurious layers all the way down to the floor, under the skirt was a fitted net skirt to give the dress volume. A really pretty and romantic dress.

'Misty Mauve' was another triumph from the Emanuels. Sindy wore a floor length velvet coat with three quarter sleeves and neat round edged collar, lined in beautiful lilac silk, her dress featured a silk lined velvet bodice which finished at the hips and was timmed with a single lilac rose bud.....it then 'poured' down onto the floor in three layers of gathered lilac silk.
Sindy was the 'Queen of The Ball' in 1971, the outfit shown in the style book was in different material and colours to this 1972 Style Book dress, but it is believed that the 1971 style book outfit was never actually made, so we can assume that this was the outfit actually released that year. And what an outfit to go to a ball in !!! Sindys dress is a gorgeous and unusual shade of raspberry, made in nylon, and perfectly tailored. The less is more rule applied to this dress, simple round neck, sleevless and trimmed at neck and hem with 'gold' ric-rac braid, just stunning in its simplicity. This would have been more than enough to satisfy any child who wanted her Sindy to look a million dollars, but Pedigree thought not, so gave Sindy one of her most luxurious evening coats, in Raspberry and shining gold brocade, elegantly tailored fluted sleeves lined in the same material as her dress and tieing at the mandarin collar with a bright canary yellow satin ribbon which flowed down the front. I am so made up that I finally have this outfit, it's a real star in my collection. This outfit also came with a little handbag, made in the same material as the dress.
In 1979 Sindy was given a 'Victorian' inspired evening dress and cape called 'Premier Girl'.The colours used were very fashionable at the time, rich chocolate brown velvet, and mocha and deep rich cream lace, the hood was lined with glimmering gold lamé, with a gold tassle at the back. The under dress is grey satin, as was the belt. You can just imagine Sindy going to a special premier on a winters evening, all wrapped up in her velvet cloak, froths of mocha and cream flowered lace spilling from the opening in the cape and swishing along the red carpet to the cheers of the crowd.
Sticking with the theme, in 1984 Sindy was given 'Premier Night', still gracing the red carpet at Liecester Square, this time Sindy wore a brown silk dress striped with black and gold, with delicate short puff sleeves. A large gold bow adds the WOW factor and a shoulder bag with gold chain matches the dress. To keep the chill off of Sindy's bare shoulders she wears a 'fur' wrap, fastened with a gold chain and lined in the same material as the dress. Another stunning creation which was sure to get the crowd chearing for Sindy all the way.
'Evening Dress' was introduced in 1982, this went back to the Victorian look which was again popular though outlets such as Laura Ashley. This was a beautiful dress of deep rich plum satin with a frothy gather at the hem and delicate glass bead detailing on the bodice, Pedigree really thought about this dress and the detail really is beautiful, Sindy wears a pretty crocheted wrap in dove grey and she also has a choker necklace and a braclet in glass beads and sequins. This was definatly a dress for New Years Eve Hogmonay at Balmoral...You can almost hear the bagpipes and hear the merriment......
In 1983 Sindy was off to a 'Gala Night' and Pedigree gave us, and Sindy, a gown fit for a Princess, they pulled out all the stops and created a gown of black satin with a net overlay sparkling in gold and pale blue embriodery detail, the short puff sleeves were made of the same delicate lace and a wrap also matched,a black satin ribbon cinched in her tiny waist and in her hair she wore a comb slide in cream, with pretty detail on it.You can just see Sindy's wonderful gown glistening in the flash bulbs as she sweeps along the red carpet and her wrap flows in the light breeze behind her.
Sindy was really spoilt in 1984, she was given a second glamourous ball gown, 'Royal Occaision' was perfect for just that ! Maybe the Royal variety performance at The London Palladium ? Black satin was used as the underdress, finishing in a froth of black lace at the bust, a gold belt cinched in Sindy's waist and a massive skirt of black and gold lace with more black lace trimming each layer flowed down onto the red carpet. This gown was pure luxury. And as if that wasn't enough, Sindy had a fur wrap to keep the evening chill off her shoulders. The wrap shown in the photo is not the original, but a vintage one.
In 1981 Sindy was given 'Ball gown'...instead of using rich materials the emphasis was on the styling of the dress to make a dramatic impact, which it certainly did ! This was Sindy's 'Frothy Capucino' ball dress ! Layers of fine coffee cotton, edged with very pretty flowered lace in coffee and cream, and accent bows in chocolate, sewn at the points where the layers were rauched slightly, lovey detailing. With this, Sindy also wore a chocolate velvet choker with a pearly sequin sewn in the middle, I haven't got this ! This high colour 70's hard head Sindy shows the gown off perfectly, the gown bringing out the richness of colour in Sindy, and Sindy's dark colouring bringing out the richness of the gown.
One of the most glamourous Sindy's and outfits was introduced in 1984, 'Masquerade Sindy' was absolutley stunning. her hair was in tiny cascading curls. She had a necklace, earings and bracelet, all matching (which I don't have, any offers ?) and wore the most delicious dress of ivory organza with cream lace detail, and a deep wine satin bow at the waist and trailing down the front of the full skirt, over this she wore a matching short cloak. This Sindy and outfit could have easily passed as a special occaision Sindy for celebrating 20, 30 or 40 years of Sindy. The outfit also came with a real folding fan, and a mask on a stick (I havn't got these either, so open to offers !)
This dress would certainly be for the most prestigious occaisions, I'm sure Sindy would be the belle of the ball at a Royal function.
Sindy is pretty in peach wearing 1985's 'Elegance' fashion, 'Pretty Peach'. Definatley a summer ballgown in it's beautiful delicate shade of peach taffeta. The bodice is tightly fitted in peach and steel grey striped satin, a peach ribbon tied in a flowing bow at the back nips in Sindy's cute little waist, with billowing puff sleeves ending in elasticted cuffs trimmed with peach satin ribbon bows and yet more peach and steel grey striped satin spilling out, beautiful detailing, you can only imagine the fun and sense of achievment the designers must have had with these fashions. The full skirt froths down to meet a ruffle of box pleats in yet more satin stripes and matches Sindy's dolly bag with peach ribbon bow and strap. This outfit screams out to be worn to the Royal Garden Party, Sindy sipping champagne and eating a bowl of fresh stawberries in the grounds of the palace.
Glamour and 'old' Hollywood syle was the name of the game when Sindy wore 1985s 'Main Attraction', a truly stunning creation in deep emerald green 'taffeta', the figure hugging rouched strapless dress flared out into a swishing fishtail trimmed with a bow in the same material. Over this glamourous evening creation Sindy wore a 'fur' cape in snow white fake fur, 'pleated' at he neck to give a appearance of a mink cape, this tied round Sindys shoulders with a lovely gold tie. Perfection.
1985 was an excellent year for 'posh frocks' for Sindy ! Also released, was 'Sophisticated Lady', another figure hugging creation, Sindys new gym was obviously doing the trick ! Here we see Gayle doing her vry best Diana Ross impression, he's good eh ! You can almost hear 'Chain Reaction' ! Thjis dress was made in stetch nylon/polyester, to cling to every curve of Sindy, it then bilowed out into a glamourous fish tail, split at the front and edged in acres of frothy white nylon lace. The same lace was used to great effect around the neck as well. More glamour was added by the inclusion of long white gloves and black sandals. A choker necklace was also included in this outfit.
Pedigree decided to give Sindy some fantasy outfits in 1979, starting with 'Fair Lady' a victorian looking dress in frills and flowers. The next year they added this outfit, entitled 'Nostalgia', an ideal outfit for Sindy to wear to a fancy dress party, or pagent. Gayle looks absolutley stunning in this mauve velveteen and rich cream lace ensemble. Designed to look like a long 'coat' worn over a dress it just oozes luxury in it's styling, a bonnet style hat matches, one well worth a place in anyones Sindy collection, truley decadent.

Another fancy outfit for Sindy in 1979 was 'Fair Lady', a scumptious creation in the richest chocolate brown cotton with beautiful flowers in poppy red, sunny yellow, white and biege, set in green leaves and edged in froth brown nylon lace. This part of the outfit was in fact a pinafore style dress, worn over a cream cotton under dress edged in a thick froth of cotton lace billowing out from the hem of the over dress. the bodice had a madarin type collar and another froth of lace trimmed the yoke. Sindy wore a matching hat in the brown/flower cotton, with a wide brim trimmed with more brown lace to protect her from the sun.
In 1982 Sindy does an 'Audrey Hepurn' in 'Fair Lady'..A rich shade of fushia pink was used in this nylon satin Edwardian style dress, spinkled with self coloured spots and finished in luxurious snow white froths of lace at the hem, collar, yoke, and cuffs at the end of the leg 'o´mutton sleeves. Sindy wore a matching hat trimed with a white ribbon band and bow, and carried a matching parasol. So this would definatly have been the outfit for that years outing to Ascot. A really lovely creation that must have got childrens minds and imaginations working overtime with play situations for our pretty princess.
1977 was the year of the Queens silver Jubilee, 25 years on the throne of England. To celebrate this, Pedigree bought out 'Royal Occaision Sindy'...this was quite a new thing for Pedigree and Sindy, as they had never bought a special occaision Sindy out before this. Sindy was a basic body Sindy, this one has an unusal colour hair, sort of strawberry blonde. I'm not sure what other colours she was issued in. She was a hard head, as oposed to the later, softer, 'squigier' heads, and had beautiful face colouring. Her outfit was indeed fit for any Royal Occaision, absolutley beautifuly made, in crisp cream cotton covered in cream lace with froths of lace on the bodice, neck, sleeves and tiered down the skirt, it also trimmed her matching wide brimmed hat and parasol. The sleeves had gorgeous fluted lace from the elbow down, Sindy wore cream court shoes. A stunning Sindy in a stunning outfit, so well tailored and in such beautiful materials that the Queen herself would look regal in it. This outfit was featured in the 1977 Sindy style 'book'.
